The 2024-2025 Secondline Season Is Here!
Well, if you’re anything like me, you were counting down the days for the Secondline season to kick off, and now that it has, it’s time to show off our Footwork. The season started two weeks ago with the Valley of the Silent Men, celebrating their 40th Anniversary as the first parade of the season. And what a way to kick it off! There’s something special about dancing through those Uptown Streets, enjoying the beauty of our culture.
For those new to the scene, Secondline parades are so much more than a Sunday activity. It’s where the heart of New Orleans culture shines brightest—a community celebration that honors our rich history, while also giving us a reason to let loose, dance, and live in the moment.
Now that we’re in the thick of it, these Sunday parades will become part of our weekly routine, a time when we put everything aside and hit the streets. You can feel the excitement in the air as each social aid and pleasure club brings their own unique flavor to the season. From sharp suits and designer shoes to brass bands and footwork, every parade is an experience in its own right.
As the band strikes the first note, The energy of the streets, the sound of the horns, and the sound of the crowd makes it feel like we’re part of something bigger—something timeless.
As we roll through the season, I’ll be posting route sheets as soon as they’re available. Make sure you keep an eye out because trust me, you don’t want to miss any of these parades. Whether you’re a longtime local or just discovering the magic of Secondline, there’s a spot for you.
